HOME TO RIVERWOOD!
is a private deed restricted and gated residential community situated along the
Myakka River. Our residents enjoy the
serene beauty of nature preserves, ponds, lakes and views of the river. There
are over 1300 homes, condos, and villas which are governed by the Riverwood
Community Homeowner’s Association (RCA). The Riverwood Community Development
District (RCDD) manages the infrastructure such as the water/sewer system and
the irrigation system. The RCA and RCDD share the maintenance of the property.
Riverwood Community was started in 1992, was purchased by Centex in the late
1990’s and completed in 2014. The 29
neighborhoods comprising Riverwood each have a different flavor, but nearly
every home backs on the golf course, a lake, a pond, our nature preserves, or
the Myakka River.
tranquil nature preserves are teeming with wildlife and eagles, osprey, herons,
turtles and alligators are easy to spot.
Our more elusive neighbors include bobcats, owls, possum, and otters.
are many activities for active adults ranging from various exercise classes,

discussions, or just relaxing by the pool.
activities campus includes tennis, bocce, and croquet courts, a community pool,
a fitness center, a library, pool and ping pong tables, and several meeting/game
rooms. Our full time activities director
provides us with a wealth of entertainment opportunities in our activities
center as well as the Southwest Florida area.
We have a beach club located on Manasota Key providing club members with
beach front including a picnic area, changing rooms, rest rooms and parking.
jewel in the community is the Riverwood golf course. Truly unique as a result
of its design features, natural beauty and varying challenges, this Golf Digest
Top Rated course is considered to be one of Southwest Florida's best kept
secrets. A Gene Bates designed, par 72 Championship course, the first nine
holes flows through heavily wooded terrain, rich in stands of natural pine and
back nine borders our wetland preserve for two very different golfing
experiences in one course.
