Bocce

Welcome to Riverwood Bocce Ball. Bocce is fun, easy to learn, competitive and social. However, it can also be challenging. You can play in an hour or two and then enjoy a social time afterwards. Bocce has been around for quite a while and dates back to its beginnings in 5200BC. It is now an Olympic Sport and is credited to the Italian’s for its popularity.

Sound interesting? There are several ways to try Bocce. A neighborhood can get together and play. You can also get friends together for a game. Beginners are welcome as are experienced players. If your neighborhood would like to reserve the courts for weekly play, please sign up with Kelly in the Activities Building for a weekly play time through season. You can also also come up to the courts and play an impromptu game.

Riverwood has three Bocce courts. They are located on the south side of the Workout Building. Balls are located in the closet inside the Workout Building by the exit door that faces west. The balls are in bags and have carts to use when moving them to the courts and back. Please return your balls to the closet when finished. We ask that during play, you do not loft the balls into the air, but gently roll them down the court. This helps reduce wear on our courts.

Riverwood uses a reservation system to reserve specific courts, and times, events and clinics. To sign up:
1. Go to www.ReserveMyCourt.com
2. Choose Player Sign up (on the horizontal menu)
3. Under HOME FACILITY, select Riverwood-Port Charlotte, FL
4. Under ACCESS CODE, enter: 100
5. Fill in the requested personal information
