RCA Committees

The RCA Board of Directors appoints standing, ad hoc, and sub-committees to aid the Board in its business. Committees are crucial to the Board's progress and the Board continually seeks subject matter expert to serve on these various committees. The work achieved in these committees directly impacts decisions made by the RCA Board of Directors.

All committee members are appointed by the Board and serve at the pleasure of the Board. They are advisory in nature. They conduct research on timely topics, and make recommendations to the Board. All committee recommendations are subject to Board approval. The Compliance Committee is the exception to the rule as it functions independently from the Board.

Membership in a committee is open to all Riverwood homeowners, whether they are full or part-time residents. If you are interested in serving on a committee, contact the committee chair or any of the RCA Board of Directors.

Riverwood Grounds & Landscaping

Mission Statement: To monitor and enhance common areas, monitor 14 Neighborhoods, Preserves, Lakes & Ponds, and Riverfront in accordance with all Governmental requirements.

Riverwood Neighborhood Committee (RNC)

Mission Statement: The Riverwood Neighborhood Committee (RNC) is a standing committee under the Riverwood Community Association (RCA). In general, the RNC is designed to provide a non-governance meeting forum for the following purposes: to provide a conduit for the expression of resident concerns, suggestions and neighborhood information; to make recommendations to the RCA and/or RCDD and Riverwood Management based on relevant resident information pertaining to the needs of the community; and, to facilitate two-way communication between Riverwood governing bodies and Riverwood neighborhoods to enable effective community-wide dissemination of important Riverwood information.

Riverwood Neighborhood Watch

Mission: The Riverwood Neighborhood Watch is a sub-committee to the Riverwood Safety & Security Committee. We are a community group where residents work with local law enforcement to prevent crime by being more observant and reporting suspicious activity. Key benefits include a potential reduction in crime, increased feelings of safety, and stronger community bonds.

Mission: We lend our support to the Activity Director who plans and executes social events and activities for the Riverwood Community. The Committee also reviews and approves social events and activities that have been requested by residents and are held on the Activity Center Campus.

Residents are encouraged to submit ideas for social activities on or before May 1st in order to be considered for the upcoming season events calendar (September 1st to May 1st). Residents must complete the Activity Center Usage Form to schedule either an ongoing or a one time activity. The form is located HERE or in the RCA Lobby for your convenience.

The Activities Committee has a subcommittee, the Library Committee.

Communications

Mission: The mission of the Communications Committee is to manage the central infrastructure for sharing information between the RCA/RCDD and our stakeholders, including Riverwood owners, residents and guests, service providers, prospective buyers, as well as the larger Charlotte County Community.

Compliance

Purpose: The Compliance Committee consists of a group of not less than 3 residents appointed by the RCA Board of directors when it is determined by the RCA Board of Directors that an Association member is in violation of the RCA covenants, by-laws, rules, or regulations and initiates fining and/or suspension procedures. The role of the Compliance Committee is to hold a hearing which is limited to determining whether to confirm or reject the fine or suspension levied by the Board. If the Committee by majority vote does approve the proposed fine or suspension, it will be imposed.

Election

Mission Statement: The Riverwood Election Committee will plan and ensure the integrity of the annual Riverwood election which includes Board of Directors and may include propositions.

The Election Committee only meets December through March.

Finance

Mission Statement: The Finance Committee will oversee and present budgets, accounts and financial statements to the RCA Board. Ensure that appropriate financial systems and controls are in place. Ensure that record keeping and accounts meet the conditions of general accepted accounting principles.

Fitness Development

Mission Statement: Our mission is to address the health and wellness needs of Riverwood residents and to support their efforts to lead healthier and more fulfilling lives.

Mission Statement: The mission of the RCA Legal Committee: The Legal Committee shall be charged with the publication of the Rules and Regulations, By-Laws, and Declaration and generally, providing advice to the Board.

Modification

Mission Statement: To review proposed new residential construction and exterior modifications to residential property, ensuring adherence to Deed Restriction in Riverwood Covenants, RCA Policies and Rules, and existing Architectural Standards to maintain property values and an attractive community.

Requests for modification approval must be received by the Riverwood office no later than 12 PM on the 1st Thursday of the month.

Safety & Security

Mission: The Safety & Security Committee acts as an advisor for the RCA, relating to the development of safety policies and practices. The Committee's recommendations are based on review of current policies, research of industry standards and review of Riverwood practices that may contribute to unsafe conditions. The Committee's mission is to create, maintain and enhance community safety awareness relating to property values and personal safety.

Sports Committee

Mission Statement The committee will work to ensure that Riverwood Residents who participate in Tennis, Pickleball, Croquet and Bocce have a safe and enjoyable experience. We will communicate and coordinate with the RCA and RCDD to ensure our facilities related to these sports activities are maintained at the highest level to provide our residents with an enhanced experience. The committee will provide input to the governing organizations for future sports related enhancements and expenditures.
