Welcome to Riverwood
Riverwood is a Gated Deed-Restricted Golf Course community.  There are 29 distinct neighborhoods with 1323 homes nestled in 1300 acres of preserves, lakes and ponds and the Riverwood Golf Course. There are various types of homes available: condominiums, villas, single family and estate homes.
The Golf Course is privately owned and open to the public and available for memberships.
Riverwood is governed by two (2) entities:  The Riverwood Community Association (RCA) and the Riverwood Community Development District (RCDD).   Both entities have distinct but complementary roles.  The RCA is a private, not-for-profit, corporation responsible for the governance and day to day management of Riverwood.  The RCDD is a local unity of special purpose government responsible for infrastructure.
The RCA is responsible for ensuring that the Covenants, by-laws and regulations of the community are administered consistently throughout Riverwood, as well as, providing oversight of the Community under Chapter 720 of Florida State Statutes.  It is managed through a five-member Board of Directors, each of whom is elected to a 3-year term of service by the homeowners of Riverwood. This is an unpaid volunteer position. The RCA employs a Community Association Manager who directs a staff of paid employees to perform the day-to-day operations.
The RCA is funded by assessments that are paid quarterly.  Landscape services are an additional assessment if the neighborhood is maintained by the RCA.
The RCDD is a local unit of special purpose government under Chapter 190 of the Florida State Statutes and governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors.  Members (residents) are elected for 4-year terms of service during the general election by Florida voters’ residents in Riverwood. The RCDD owns the infrastructure within Riverwood South, including the Activity Center Campus buildings and amenities, water lines, sewer treatment facility, wastewater treatment facility, dog park, RV and Boat Parking area and the Beach Club.

The RCDD is funded through Tax Assessments and appear on the Charlotte County Property Tax Bill.  The Water and Sewer are billed separately. The Beach Club is funded by the members of the Beach Club
