Who We Are

Welcome to Riverwood

Riverwood is a Gated Deed-Restricted community with a private Golf Course. There are 29 distinct neighborhoods with 1323 homes nestled in about 1300 acres of preserves, lakes, ponds and the golf course. There are various types of homes available: condominiums, villas, single-family and estate homes.

The 18 hole, 4.5 star, Gene Bates designed par 72 Championship Golf Course is privately owned, open to the public and available for memberships. The restaurant is open daily for lunch to residents and golfers. Evening events and nightly dinners are for golf members only.

Two (2) entities govern Riverwood: The Riverwood Community Association (RCA) and The Riverwood Community Development District (RCDD).  Both entities have distinct, complementary roles. The RCA is a private, not-for-profit corporation responsible for the day-to-day management of Riverwood. The RCDD is a local special purpose government framework responsible for infrastructure.

The RCA is responsible for ensuring that the Covenants, By-laws and Regulations of the community are administered consistently throughout Riverwood and provide oversight of the Community under Chapter 720 of Florida State Statutes. A five-member Board of Directors manages it, each of whom is elected to a three-year term of service by the homeowners of Riverwood. This is a volunteer position. The RCA employs a Community Association General Manager who directs a staff of paid employees to perform the day-to-day operation. The RCA is funded by assessments that are paid quarterly. Landscape services are an additional assessment if the RCA maintains the neighborhood.

Under Chapter 190 of the Florida State Statutes, the RCDD is governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors elected for a 4-year term of service during the general election by Florida voter residents in Riverwood. The RCDD owns the Activity Center Campus Buildings and amenities, water lines, sewer treatment facility, wastewater treatment facility, dog park, RV and boat parking area and the Beach Club.

The RCDD is funded through tax assessments on the Charlotte County Property Tax Bill. The water and sewer are billed separately.
